If you're on an H1B and are leaving the US for good, then you may not need
to pay tax on the whole year's earnings (in US & CH)...but you need to
calculate what is best for you to do, and I use an accountant to calculate
this.

You can either choose to tax each time period in each country just for the
time that you live there - but then the US tax rate is typically higher on
that part-year US piece (30% tax plus). Or you can choose to tax all your
year's income with the IRS, and get some foreign tax credits to reduce it a
bit. The choice often depends on what time of year you move, and the
relative earnings and expenses you wish to deduct for the different time
periods in the two countries.
