I hope you understand why this is being done, do you ?
It's indeed not just the IRS trying to cut down money being laundered through
all the tax havens, it's also other three letter organizations monitoring money
transactions (e.g. INS). I'm sure you signed the customs form at the border
stating that you have not more than 10k US or do you refuse INS this
information based on the Bankengeheimnis?
You have to realize that this is a global issue, since such "black" money goes
to terrorists, drug and other criminal organizations. Being Swiss, I don't
wanna support any of these activities (including tax fraud!). Our reputation is
bad enough in the world after the Jewish Money scandal.
How long do you expect that the Bankengeheimnis will survive?
