Hi

hard cheeses are no problem to import. I always have them vacuumized and
sealed in a plastic bag and put them into my suitcase. I would not mention
anything to the customs officer. Most likely they would not know exactly
what to do and confiscate the items. But if you bring in premixed cheeses
(like Migros or Gerber, etc) there is no problem. Actually I have found
some Gerber Swiss fondue at some supermarkets and speciality stores like
Whole Foods Market. Anyway, don't worry I never had problems during my 5
years of importing (for personal use, that is) hard cheeses into the US.

For Maizena look for 'Corn Starch' in the cooking/baking aisle of your
supermarket.

For 'Alcohol a bruler' I would try to get some Ethanol from one of the
labs. If you need the 'jelly' for your equipment look for a product called
'Sterno', which can be found at sporting, camping stores or large party
supply stores (look for 'Chaffing fuel, supplies'). Or try Target or any
large retailer, they actually import things like this from Europe, since
they also carry Fondue sets and chaffing devices. This is where you also
might find something like 'Alcohol a bruler'.

Bon Appetite
