Honestly, after having sunny 28 degrees Celsius today... why not try
another state and move to California? ;-)

I have no idea, if post 9/11 changed something in the DMV process here.
Probably yes. I had my problem long before 9/11 and am here on an
entirely different visa now. I even got the SSN and was able to renew my
drivers license by mail. :-D
