[Swiss-list] H1-B visa: waiting time for I-797 form

Hi,

I am waiting for my I-797 approval notice in order to
get
my H1-B visa. Although my future US company applied
for it in August 2005, I still did not obtain the
document. My work contract is dated Oct 1, but I am
still in Switzerland. The company's attorney has
launched various requests but the only response she
gets is "it is pending".

I would very much appreciate to hear from your
experience:
- Is this waiting time normal?
- Did you obtain a I-797 within the current contingent
(Oct 05)?
- Is there anything I can do to find out more
information about the process/timeframe?
