Hi everybody,

Here follows a message to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology
(SFIT) alumni members of the Swiss-List. A similar post mail will also
be sent to those registered with the SFIT alumni association as living
in the Bay Area.

Two professors from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at
Lausanne are now spending a sabbatical in Berkeley. Alfred Strohmeier
director of the Software Engineering Laboratory is the guest of the
Computer Science Division at UC Berkeley. Jean Buttet from the Institute
of Experimental Physics is currently at the Materials Sciences Division
at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. In order to give SFIT alumni an
opportunity to meet and discuss with these very interesting persons, I
organize a dinner in Berkeley on Friday November 6. Unfortunately, it
was not possible to set a date on a weekend. To let people coming from
the peninsula the time to commute, the dinner is scheduled to start at
7:30 PM. Dinner will be at the Hs Lordships at the Berkeley Marina (199
Seawall Drive, Berkeley, CA 94710, tel. (510) 843 2733).

The following menus will be proposed (includes salad. Tax, tip and
beverage not included):

Roast Prime Rib, served with creamy horseradish and red potatoes. $18.95

Chicken Pomodoro, served with fresh diced tomato, basil, lemon and red
potatoes. $15.95

Scampi Chardonnay, sauteed in dry white wine with garlic and tomatoes,
served with rice. $16.95

Baked Salmon, in lemon and butter sauce, served with rice. $14.95

If you wish to attend, please answer me before Thursday October 29.
Preferably send an email to L_Vuilleumier_at_LBL.gov with how many guests
you will be and if possible the entrie you will choose. You can also
answer by post mail at the return address below or call me at
