Please join the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce Business Stammtisch for relaxed mingling and exchange of ideas, every 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at swissnex. Each attendee will have the opportunity to introduce him/herself, inform the group of their business offer and make any appropriate requests (staffing, advice, etc).or announcements as time allows.
This Thursday, Hans-Jürg "H.J." Jost, Ph.D., Director of Environmental Sensing
of NovaWave, will discuss his company’s development of
next-generation, laser-based chemical sensors for a wide range of civilian and military applications. NovaWave’s sensors will employ cutting edge laser and photonics technologies, enabling commercially viable sensors with unprecedented detection sensitivity, chemical selectivity, precision, and accuracy. Dr. Jost will explain how these fieldable, autonomous sensors operate and the many cross-cutting applications, including chemical and biological agent detection, trace explosives sensing, greenhouse gas and pollution monitoring, as well as basic and applied research. NovaWave was founded in 2002 and presently offers enabling photonics tools, including high performance optical and fiberoptic components, turnkey, all-solid state laser sources for spectroscopy, and optical metrology instrumentation. Dr. Hans-Jürg "H.J." Jost recently joined NovaWave Technologies as Director of Environmental Sensing. Prior to joining NovaWave he worked at NASA Ames for 10 years in the Earth
Science Division measuring atmospheric trace gases with his instruments from Brazil to the North Pole at altitudes up to 100'000 feet. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Berne, Switzerland, in Physics.
Appetizers and refreshments will be served by the Chamber. An optional no host dinner follows at a local restaurant.
