B.A. in Liberal Studies from SFSU, and has a Masters Degree in
Education with a specialty
in early childhood. After teaching preschool for almost a decade, Sylvia
has worked with Parents Place for over 10 years, providing education and
support services
for parents and teachers of young children. In addition, Sylvia teaches
Early Childhood Education at Skyline College in San Bruno.
Early childhood is an excellent time to promote second language
acquisition. Learn about the windows of opportunity created by learning
more than one language and explore ways to help children retain and
build on the languages they are learning.
Discussion will include information on the key aspects to multilingual
success and what to expect in terms of childrens development.
Whatever your goals for bilingualism may be, we welcome you to
participate in the question and answer session on bilingual education.
Quiet nursing infants are welcome to the event. Free babysitting is
available on campus during Sylvia Fords presentation.
Please contact Liane Clark, office manager (650-324-8617;
offmgr_at_germanamericanschool.org;), to reserve a spot. Thank you.
