Foreign Policy Implications of the US election - Special briefing with
Ambassador Christian Blickenstorfer

Thursday November 4th, 2004 at 6:00pm (followed by a reception)

Ambassador Blickenstorfer will travel from Washington D.C. for a private
discussion with the SHARE community on the immediate and longer-term
implications of the election. Whether it is a 2nd Bush administration or
first-term Kerry Presidency, there will be a far-reaching impact on the
international system. Add to that the uncertainty over control of the
Congress (especially the Senate), and on-going tensions in the
international community, and there are many questions ahead. Please
join for an informal dialogue with the Ambassador. Other distinguished
guests from the Boston community will be joining the discussion and
those names communicated in the coming days.

Agenda:

6:00 PM Arrival and Welcome
6:15 PM Start of presentation with
Question and Answer period
7:30 PM Reception and networking
8:30 PM Conclusion of event

Join an MBA-style case study discussion with Prof Sean Meehan of IMD
(Lausanne)
on
Wednesday November 10, 6:30pm
at
SHARE, 420 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

SHARE/Consulate of Switzerland, the IMD Alumni Club and IMD are pleased
to invite you to an evening 'case-study' led by Professor Sean Meehan,
IMD Professor of Marketing and Director of the IMD MBA Program. The
event will be held on Wednesday November 10 at the SHARE, 420 Broadway,
Cambridge MA 02138 beginning at 6:30pm and followed by a networking
reception. IMD

Dr. Meehan (http://www02.imd.ch/faculty/vitae/index.cfm?id=160
<http://www02.imd.ch/faculty/vitae/index.cfm?id=160> ) will be leading a
marketing case study that will give attendees a unique opportunity to
participate in an MBA style case discussion. Don't worry, pre-reading is
not required! The case study will lead into a discussion on research
from Sean's new book "Simply Better.' A recent review from Amazon can be
found here
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0875843980/104-6976420-95

Sean's research suggests that companies should focus relentlessly on
providing "generic category benefits" - that is, giving people what they
really want a little better than the competition does. He brings a
wealth of experience in the classroom and consulting with organizations
world-wide. The case study and resulting discussion is sure to be
interesting especially for those of you that have never had a chance to
participate in an MBA class. No prior business experience is necessary!

Before the case study Dr. Meehan will host a session for prospective
MBAs and Executive MBAs beginning at 5:30pm. Several IMD MBA and EMBA
alumni will be in attendance and it will be a great opportunity to have
informal conversations about both of these programs. This will last for
approximately 45 minutes before a short break and the case study begins.

Program:
5:30pm: Information session for prospective MBA students about IMD MBA
program
6:15pm: Break
6:30pm: Case study and discussion with Professor Meehan

II. International Perspectives on the Science and Ethics of
Stem Cell Research

Our panel of experts will discuss the latest advancements in this
promising field of science and the current ethical issues surrounding
the use of embryos in research. The scientists will start by giving an
overview of the different types of stem cell research currently
conducted. Together with the other experts, the panelists will then
discuss the ethical questions raised by the use of embryos in certain
research projects and also frame the debate as it is currently going on
among politicians and legislators around the world.

Panelists:

- Professor Yann Barrandon, joint professor of Stem Cell
Research and of Experimental Surgery at the Swiss Federal Institute of
