Hi Marco,
Well, according to the information I got it's only 6 quarters. But please
note that I just forwarded the information I got from a jurist/lawyer at the
Swiss Federal Office of Social Security whom I called and who consulted the
treaty between Switzerland and the U.S. to give me this answer.
Now I went myself and looked up the contract which in German you find under
http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/i8/0.831.109.336.1.de.pdf . For the French
version please check the following link:
http://www.admin.ch/ch/f/rs/c0_831_109_336_1.html. In the Art. 13 (Chapter
two, page 6 and 7) you may read what the Swiss lawyer was referring to.
To erase all doubts, why don't you double-check and contact somebody at the
Federal Office for Social Security directly. You may call the Tel. +41 31
322 90 11 and ask for somebody, specialist in this field (Sorry I don't
remember the name of the lady who advised me - she was german speaking)?
Kind regards,
Andrea at info_at_swissbrains.ch
