Thanks for the stories. Yet, as much as I dislike being mistreated by
immigration officers, their behavior appears to me simply typical of
people working in administration, and they arguably don't behave worse
than EU or Swiss immigration officers faced to certain categories of
people (say, people who don't quite look Caucasian).

Keep also in mind that the US is in fact the most immigration-friendly
place in the world, letting in about 1 million immigrants per year. The
population of the country is expected to rise from about 285 million
people in 2000 to 400-450 million in 2050, mainly through immigration.
Something to ponder.
