As an editor for some categories you are responsible for accepting
new entries, editing entries, or even delete them. As an editor you
are also expected to add new entries yourself and make sure that your
categories are updated regularly.
How the system works
Whenever someone submits a new or modified entry for one of your categories
you will get an email with the details. In order to validate or reject this
entry, you need to open the Directory Management Page.
Click on the line 'Validate' (in the 'Links' menu). You will see a list of
entries waiting to be validated. Search for the one you need to validate
(there may be several pages if more than 10 entries await validation),
click either on the 'Validate/Modify' or 'Delete' button and submit
the form. If you reject an entry please edit the email message that will
be sent out and explain exactly why you rejected the entry.
Please consider the following points (in no particular order):
As an editor you have full access to everything, there are not many
safeguards, so please be careful.
Submitters can submit not only text, but also html code. This allows them
to submit potentially dangerous constructs. If you find suspicious code
please do not approve an entry but instead write
me (Claudio Fleiner) an email so
that I can take a look.
Please make sure that you only validate entries for your categories. The
system will currently show you all entries that await validation, not
only entries for your category. If you made an error please send an email
to the editor for the category you validated an entry for to explain what
If an entry was submitted for your category but you think it belongs to
another category please send an email to the editor of that category so
that she/he may validate that entry for the correct category.
