Hi!
Doing a postdoc at UC Berkeley I am currently on a J-1 visa which will
expire by the end of January 2007. For various reasons I recently changed
my mind concerning my career and started looking for jobs in industry here
in the US. My idea was to start working from January next year. Now I am
afraid that I won't be able to get a work visa before October 2007. The
reason is that the cap for H1B visa for the fiscal year 2007 (which starts
in October 2007) has already been exhausted. This would mean that I could
only apply in April 2007 with the work permit starting in October 2007. See
the article:

Is anyone in a similar situation. If yes, how did you solve the problem. Is
there a possibility to switch to another visa category that is non-caped?
Also, is there anything the Swiss embassy can do for me (I am thinking of
some special treaty) ?
Thanks a lot for any kind of information.
