The University of California is creating a dynamic new
university campus and campus community in Merced,
California, which opened in September 2005 as the 10th
campus of the University of California and the first
American research university built in the 21st century.

The School of Engineering invites applicants for three
senior tenured faculty positions and three junior
tenure-track positions in Computer Science and
Engineering to begin July 1, 2006. We are seeking
exceptionally qualified candidates in the areas of
Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, Real Time and
Embedded Systems, Networking, Databases, Machine
Learning, Pattern Recognition, Data Mining, Data
Analysis, Information Access and Management, Artificial
Intelligence, Robotics Algorithms, Human-Computer
Interaction, Virtual Reality and Computer Graphics.
Other areas in Computer Science will be given
consideration as well. A PhD in Computer Science or a
related field and demonstrated excellence in research
are required. Special attention will be paid to
applicants who participate in interdisciplinary research.
