Hi Brian,
I remember wondering about the same things just before we came back...
Take home pay will of course depend on your salary... :)
A few pointers:
- Taxes: here are the calculated total rates for 2003/4 in Canton Vaud
(129%), in my commune (very low tax rate, 43%). This includes federal
(IFD), cantonal and communal tax.
100'000 13%
120'000 15%
140'000 17%
160'000 19%
180'000 20%
200'000 21%
220'000 22%
240'000 23%
260'000 24%
From memory, Neuchatel is probably higher than this.
- Rent: ~ CHF 2000+ / mo
- Food: ~ CHF 1000-1300 / mo
- Health insurance: family of 4: ~ CHF 600/mo (just a few "complementary"
options) (and count on this to increase each year...)
- Cars: 2 cars, mid-range, about 20'000 km/yr: CHF 5000.- / year
(insurance, registration, gas, upkeep)
And the rest... Anybody else want to chime in?
Hope this helps. Avoid converting dollars into Swiss francs and back.
Laurent
