Hi all,

I know there are several Swiss IT specialists out there, and I was
wondering whether anyone would be ready to give me a few tips on how to
install my home network, or where to find good advice (for free, that
is..). Below is a detailed description of my problem, so if you are not
an IT person, please stop reading here.

thanks much.

Nico

---------

1. Hardware
Cable internet connection
desktop PC running win2K and ZoneAlarm (A), connecting through ethernet
cable to router.
notebook running XPpro and XP firewall (B), connecting wireless (g) to
the router.
Linksys 802.11b/g wireless router

2. Problem: Both machines can see the internet fine, but they can't see
each other. A (who is connected to the router through an Ethernet cable)
can ping B, but B cannot ping A. this ping is either blocked in the
router (security tab) or, if that is turned off, by zonealarm, EVEN
THOUGH the entire subnet is declared trusted zone. Neither computer can
mount the other's harddrive.

3. Goal: both PC can see each other's share folders, and B can use a
printer that is connected to A.

4. I am doing this for the first time. There might be something obvious
that I miss.

If anyone can and is willing to advise me, I'd be very grateful. Please
if you have a good website that explains the process and troubleshooting
in detail, let me know.
