Job Title: Senior Scientist
Location: Tumor Immunology, San Diego Research
Job description: This exceptional cell biologist will lead a group of scientists and technicians responsible for research focused on identifying and characterizing epithelial cancer stem cells. The individual will have extensive depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in cancer cell, stem cell, and epithelial cell biology. They will also possess expert hands-on experimental skills in manipulating primary human tumor cells in vitro and have an in-depth understanding of xenograft tumor models. The candidate will have a recognized scientific reputation through a sustained and high quality scientific publication record and will have established colleagues and collaborators in academic laboratories recognized in the epithelial tumor and stem cell fields. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Education: PhD with 8+ years of research experience. Industry experience preferred but not essential.

Job Description Seeking a candidate with a strong set to include performing a broad range of in-vivo oncology models and who can supervise a small group of technicians. This individual will be responsible for performing both in vitro cell culture of human and animal tumor cell lines necessary for in vivo tumor modeling and conducting extensive in-vivo studies screening novel small molecule anti-cancer agents. Animal handling skills to include mice and rats, dosing techniques (i.v., i.p., oral gavage, s.c., i.m.).and familiarity with cell culture sterile techniques and animal surgery required.Prior experience in development and running animal models of angiogenesis/oncology and in vivo tumor inoculation procedures is required.
Qualifications MS/PhD Biology or Pharmacology and 5-10 years experience in industry desired.
