Hi Adriano,

Forget about the o in your name. I used to live in California and I still
have a Belgian friend, a civil engineer who lost her job twice in a row in
the last 5 years, and always had a tough time getting another job lined up.
Now she is happily employed as an analyst at Merryl Lynch, has a job with
long hours, good pay which she loves. Do not get desperate, I think it is
the bad economy, which has hit especially bad California.
May be you could get info's from the Association of American Mechanical
Engineers Society (is it called like this?). You may also consider a head
hunter.

May be want to get some help from a professional, who will help you how to
write your resume' in the American style, and who will show you how
Americans behave in interviews. Americans are more self assured, and it is
important during an interview to highlight and focus on your strength.
Americans also use stupid personal questions: What are your strength and
your weaknesses? Show an example of how you achieved one of your goals in
your previous job. How did you handle a certain difficult situation with
your boss? All sort of questions which are not that easy to answer, so you
better start thinking about it in advance. You can also buy books about the
theme.

Good luck,
Corinna

P.S. Next time you better get a job, before you move somewhere, just to
avoid bad surprises!!!
