swiss-list: moving from Switzerland to Las Vegas

Hi!

I will start in presenting myself: I am a Swiss citizen from Mendrisio, Ticino.
I spent one and a half year in Chicago, IL under a J1 visa and I came back to
Switzerland last August. I met my fiancé in Chicago and we decided to apply for
a K1 visa (fiancé visa) in order for me to come back to US and planning to get
married without any immigration problems. My visa process is still pending but
it should be approved by February 2003.

My fiancé moved to Las Vegas, NV just 2 months ago. Since we are planning to
start our "adventure" in this city, I am starting to look around to familiarize
with the employment situation there. My fiancé being new in Vegas can not
really help me out so I though you maybe your association could give me some
advice or address me to any person or other association that can give me some
information about.

I studied tourism management in Switzerland and I worked in the Hotel Business
in Switzerland, Germany and USA. I am actually employed at the Casino Lugano in
quality of administrative clerk-secretary.

Until now it is everything ok, my only worry is, that since my fiancé is the
person supposed to sponsor my visa and he being employed at the moment trough a
temporary agency, will maybe not give to the INS a sufficient proof that he can
support me. That is why, in the meantime I am trying to look already for a job
in the US: a job contract on my side would give to the INS no reason to worry I
could become a social charge (which is their main worry).

I tried to send my resume to Hotels and Casino in Vegas but, as expected, they
need me to be there to give me a chance to get an interview and follow all
their standard recruitment procedures. So, I am catched in a vicious circle: I
need to be there to get a job but I need to get a job to be there! This is the
reason that pushed me to find an alternative way.

Annexed, I send you my resume that if you wish you can feel free to forward to
anyone you think could be helpful for my situation.

[As per our usual policy the attachment has been deleted, if you want the
resume contact Claudia directly by email. The moderator ]

Thank you for you time and attention!

Sincerely,

Claudia Fontana
