Hi all,
A friend of mine would like to come over to California for a year to
learn american sign language. She has written to a school for deaf
children in LA to see if she could work there against a room and
food. She is aware that it might be difficult for a foreigner to come
and work, and this is why she has asked to work for free, basically.
Also, she is playing flute. Alternatively, she has proposed to enroll
in a conservatory or in a university program, so that she could have
some kind of visa to allow her to stay for a year.
Would any of you have an idea of school she could apply to in
California, if she could apply for some kind of grant in Switzerland
that could help, and also if someone know of a swiss person who
enrolled in a conservatory in California or elsewhere? Is there also
grant possibilities for musicians in Switzerland, to go study abroad
(unfortunately, she already passed her virtuosity)?
Any suggestions as to what she could do to be able to stay here and
learn the sign language would be greatly appreciated.
