Thanks a lot for raising the level of the discussion!
It is more than needed.

It is very important not to confuse two things:

There are things that are a matter of taste: food, weather,
working conditions, etc. To discuss about that is pretty useless.

There are things that are unacceptable in a country that claims
to be the most free and most democratic country. Everybody must
be aware of the atrocities committed by the US. You cannot say:
"It's OK to sacrifice 500 000 Iraqi children; if we didn't, gas
would be more expensive".

Incidentally, you cannot solve these problems by returning to
Europe. As somebody said on this list, it may be that the best
thing to do for people aware of these things is to speak out.

Note that fairness is necessary: Europe has slaughtered its
way to the domination of the world until the US were able to
do it by themselves. The only reason Europe (to some extent)
stopped playing this game is that they knew they would have the
best seats in the next big war.

Apparently Americans are unfortunately still unaware that
violence generates violence. The awful terrorist attacks of last
September are bound to happen again and again if the government
doesn't change its policy.

Mona
