Count-net.com Closes CHF 2.5 Million Second Round
12 January 01 - Count-net.com, a Switzerland-based Internet financial
services provider, has closed CHF 2.5 million in a second round of
investment from Gesfid and Overseas Venture Partners. The company's ASP
Solution offers small and mid-sized businesses the possibility to outsource
their accounting departments. It enables data to be entered by the end
clients and the system turns the records into complete and systematic
accounting operations. Count-net was founded in April 2000 and has a staff
of 9. A seed round in April 1999 raised $160,000, and a first round in
October 2000 raised CHF 2.5 million from First Gen-Found and Sequor BV.

THE HERRING TAKE: Having successfully closed two earlier
funds with good returns for investors and six public market
exits, Index Ventures is well on its way to reaching its
third fund's target of $300 million. The firm, a technology
investor since 1992 that adopted sector specialization early
on, is one of continental Europe's more established venture
capital players. General partner Neil Rimer is upbeat about
fundraising prospects for European-based VCs. "The last time
we were out fundraising, European technology funds were not
on the radar screens of U.S. investors. It was hard to prove
to them that one could build new world-class companies. Many
have now made a decision to invest in Europe," he says. New
investors in the fund include Oracle, Harbourvest, and Frank
Russell. They join Cisco Systems, Invesco, and UBS Capital.
