The 2002 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV-2002) registration mail-in
period will be held from noon on Monday, October 2, 2000 to noon on
Wednesday, November 1, 2000.

WHAT IS DV-2002?

The U.S. Diversity Visa (DV) program - also known as the "D.V. lottery" -
makes up to 55,000 permanent resident immigrant visas available each year by
random lottery drawing of applicants from qualifying countries. The
immigrant visas are distributed across six geographic regions, with a
greater number of visas going to regions with lower rates of immigration.
Individuals from countries sending more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S.
in the past five years are ineligible*.

WHERE DO I GET MORE INFORMATION?

the U.S. Department of State's web site (URL =

the requirements and procedures. The site also includes a sample entry form
and answers to frequently asked questions. The same information can be
requested via the Consular Affairs automated fax system at 202/647-3000
(code 1550). Interested persons may also call 202/331-7199 for recorded
information describing the various means of obtaining further details on
entering the DV-2002 program.
