Hi Stefan,
Another disadvantage of being a resident may arise in the case you
succeed to qualify for a Swiss-US tax treaty. This tax treaty applies to
foreign who teach in the US as part of their job, and exempt them from
paying US taxes for a max period of 2 years --- Yes!!! you don't pay a
penny of federal taxes for 2 years (I had it before obtaining my green
card). However you must be non resident to qualify for this treat(y)
(i.e. J-1).
Hope you qualify....
