I am a Resource Coordinator with Berlitz Cultural Consulting, (a
division of Berlitz Int'l), in Princeton, NJ, USA
We organize cross-cultural programs for people who are being
relocated by their companies to other parts of the world to live and
work. During these programs, we discuss culture differences that will
be encountered in daily living and in the workplace. The goal is for the
participant to understand the new culture and learn the "do's and
don'ts" so that he or she may have a smoother transition and more
successful assignment.
My job is to locate resource people or "country specialists" who
can assist our trainer. There is nothing formal to prepare because the
function of this person is to answer the participants' questions and
relate personal experiences to familiarize them with the new culture.
The time involved would be about 2 hours, any convenient time between
9am and 5 pm. The resource is paid for his/her time, plus travel
expenses.
We are delivering a program in CAMPBELL, CA on APRIL 28, 2008 for a
couple who will be relocating to ZUG, SWITZERLAND to work for Johnson &
Johnson. I am searching for someone who is familiar enough with that
region of Switzerland in order to be able to answer questions and talk a
bit about living there. I can give you more details and our trainer
would also be able to speak with and prepare this person in advance.
