This could be OK, but try to stay away from 6th Street unless you feel very
comfortable with the homeless and druggies all over the street.

The SOMA (South of Market) area can be good or bad, depending where you are.
Near the Metreon on 4th St is OK. Stay away from the Tenderloin (around
Market St). If you are in almost anywhere near the waterfront, you should
be OK. The financial district can become pretty empty in the evenings and
depending on your comfort level, you might feel awkward as a single woman.

You can't go wrong in North Beach, Marina, Pacific Heights, Lombard Street
(the part near Chestnut St).
