Dear Bay-Area Swiss List,

I moved a few weeks ago to the Bay Area and am very exited about
the hiking opportunities. Next weekend I will do a good size
day-hike at the Big Basin Redwoods State Park. If you would like
to join me, please see the details below.

Thanks
Stefan
Fremont, CA

Date : 22. September 2002, Sunday, 1000AM
Meeting Point : Big Basin Redwoods State Park
                   http://cal-parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=540
There is a little park store with a couple of
wooden tables in front of it. Let’s meet at
those tables. It takes me from Fremont about
90min to get to the park. The drive is
sometimes very narrow and takes time.
Fees : 3$ parking fee
Hike : roundtrip, distance about 11 miles. We will
go from the park (1000ft) up to Mount McAbee
(1700ft) where we will have an amazing view
to the south. Coming down we will pass the
beautiful Berry Greek Falls (400ft) and the
Silver Falls. The hiking time itself is about
5 hours. With brakes it will take us probably
                   about 6 to 7 hours.
Level : it is technically not difficult, the entire
path is easy to walk on. Because of the
distance it is not a beginner hike. You
should be used to hiking or other regular
                   sport activities.
Equipment : as every nice hike, it starts and finishes in
a store ;-). There are no shops or
restaurants on the hike, you carry what you
need. I recommend a good pair of shoos,
plenty of water and a snack for lunch.
Cancel policy : I will not go if it rains.
Contact : If you want to participate, please let me
know so we can arrange the details.
Disclaimer : I am not a professional tour guide. I can not
take any responsibilities for any person
or/and events happening on the trail or
during the hike. Legally, everybody is on
                   his/her own.
