Sara,
You may also found appropriate medical care through your primary care
physician.
For example an annual pap-smear can be obtained most likely by your
primary care physician as well as a midwife or nurse practitioner.
Best doctor lists are good to identify leading specialists but are
probably not of great help to find a doctor for routine care.
I think to ask female friends about their experience is a good approach.
If you need a special medical procedure it is appropriate to ask the
doctors office how many of these procedures the physician performs a
week and where he/she got trained (if the physician is new in the
field). As mentioned in an earlier e-mail you will then be able to
obtain school rankings.
As I can imagine you should also be able to find a special women's care
center or maternal center operated by physicians or certified midwifes.
