Subject: Europe Day Announcement

Special announcement:

Dear friends of the European Weekly:

May 9, Europe Day, marks an unforgettable step in history. On May 9, 1950,
French politician Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of
an organised Europe, indispensable to the maintenance of peaceful relations.
In fact, his proposal that was initially geared towards removing the main
causes of post-war Franco-German tensions formed the basis for the European
Coal and Steel Community (ECSC). It became known as the "Schuman
declaration," and to this day, May 9 is designated Europe Day.

Today, Europe Day is the occasion for activities and festivities that bring
Europe closer to its citizens and peoples of the Union closer to one
another.

So, come and join the European Business Card Exchange that will celebrate
Europe Day. The event will be hosted by the French American Chamber of
Commerce in association with the Trade Development Alliance and the Council
of European Chambers of Commerce.
Hannele Tikkanen, Counselor at the Trade Section of the European Commission
Delegation to the United States in Washington, DC will be speaking at the
event.
When: Tuesday, May 9, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Where: Graham & Dunn PC Pier 70, 2801 Alaskan Way Suite 300
$ 5 in advance, $ 10 at the door
Contact Laure Williams at Laurew_at_faccpnw.org or 206-443-4703

See you all on Europea Day!
