Just in case some of the readers of the list would not be on our mailing
list. We have a 20-person delegation of nanotech and business folks from
Switzerland. You're invited to meet them at the event below:

"How Nanotechnology will change your life in 2005, 2020, and 2050!"

Dear Friends,

Please join us at SHARE/Consulate of Switzerland to welcome a delegation
of Nanotechnology experts representing leading Swiss research
institutions and businesses and hear about the impact that
nanotechnology will have in the fields of medicine, biotechnology and
food science.

Date: Tuesday March 9th, 2004 at 6:15 pm

Location: SHARE/Consulate of Switzerland
420 Broadway in Cambridge, MA
Directions at http://www.shareboston.org/info/directions.shtml

There is wide consensus that the emerging field of nanotechnology will
have far-reaching implications for many aspects of our daily life. While
we often hear about breakthrough nanoscience developments in industrial
manufacturing and information technologies, our three speakers will give
you insights into how "nanomedicine", "nanobiotechnology" and "nano food
science" are bringing new ideas, new research opportunities or new
products to life!

Speakers:

** Prof. Peter Seeberger, ETHZ **

Prof. Seeberger will talk about his research on the use of silicon chip
based microreactors for rapid reaction optimization and process
development in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry and for colloid
formation. He will explain how this new technology will impact all
chemical processes and result in time and cost savings in academia and
industry. Link: http://www.seeberger.ethz.ch/

** Prof. Andreas Engel, Biozentrum, Uni Basel **

Prof. Engel will give an overview of his research at the forefront of
the "nanobiotechnology" phenomenon, which involves using nanotechnology
tools (such as AFMs) to analyze the crystallization of membrane proteins
and lipids. Link: http://www.biozentrum.unibas.ch/aengel.html

** Dr. Martin Michel, head of Food Colloids, Nestle **

Dr. Michel will share his insights on how the food industry is using
nanoscience concepts to develop new food structures providing the
necessary sensorial and health benefits. Link: www.nestle.com

Moderator:

** David Talbot, Senior Editor, Technology Review **

Program

After short presentations by the speakers, the audience will be invited
to ask questions to the three speakers. A cocktail reception will follow
the discussion.

RSVP

There is no fee to attend the event, but you must RSVP to Nadine
Gerstler-Lopez at Nadine_at_shareboston.org prior to the event.
