At the Cakery on 1308 Burlingame Avenue in Burlingame, you find very nice croissants and decent bread.
Burlingame Avenue features many nice shops and restaurants. The Cakery is the only place I have discovered so far where one can buy croissants (plain/almond/chocolate) and decent bread like a peasant loaf (Bauernbrot) etc. The people are very friendly and always spare a cookie on your children. They also have nice pastry. Somewhat pricy, but worth a try
