Greencard Lottery
edit
This is the official site of the U.S. State Department to register for the 'Greencard' lottery. Registration is free of charge and usually open between October and December every year. All you need is an electronic passport image. Be aware that online sites that allow you to register usually ask for money when in fact participation is free. Just follow the rules and you will be fine (I personally know several people that won the lottery btw, so winning is easier than one might think).
