There are 2 sites which might be of interest to all of you. They are
candidates to be put on the website too.
http://www.isn.org
Immigration Support Network
Has general information, does public policy work and has chat boards
for asking and supplying information on Greencards, H1Bs and H1-H1 transfers.
For those of you who don't know about Consulary processing of GCs this is
the site to get some information. Canada's times for Consulary processing
of a GC is 6-8 month (from initial paperwork submission to getting GC).
Is a site to track the INS. You can log in and create an account, enter
what center you submited your request (GC, H1, H1-H1, ...) and what date you
received your receipt and finally what date you received your approval.
While you are waiting, you can see other people update the database and
see where other requests are at. This information then allows you to
reverse engineer the INS's processing time. Which will give you a better
idea than the fantasy messages they have on their answering machine.
For instance you can use the search, select the processing center your are
being worked at (for Bay area mostly CSC) and the type of transaction you are
waiting on (H1 ...) then see the relevant dates ... pretty nice I thought.
Cheers
JM
