I agree with everybody else that travel during the Green Card process
is in general risky. However, one option that should be mentioned is
that might be able to obtain a document called Advanced Parole
<http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/Emergency/#Advanced>, which
allows travel during this process. Some sources say that this is for
emergency travel only, but I remember that in our Green Card process,
our lawyers applied for it "just in case" and it was approved.
However, I don't remember how long it took to approve. USCIS is much
faster than the INS used to be, but 4 weeks, one of which is a
holiday week, would cut it very close. If you plan to try that route,
I'd suggest to consult an immigration lawyer immediately (ours were
in-house for our company, so I can't give you a recommendation).
