It depends on who pays your salary. If you get a salary from an US employer, you probably pay income tax on it, but you may get away
with social security ( I did for two years).
If CH pays your stipend, you may be completely tax free, neither US nor CH may tax you on it.
These situations are very complex. But the IRS has great publications with step by step instructions. You may save a lot of money by
reading them. Or get a good CPA.

What does "exempt" mean? Like no taxes at all? When I came here I was
asked to fill-in a W-4, and about 30% of my salary was subtracted ...
anything wrong with that??? Please help!
