swiss-list: Swiss driving licence in New York State?

Hi

I would like to drive a car on Thanksgiving in New York State, but I have
only a Swiss driving licence.

The archives of the Swiss list say that it depends on the state, how long
after the arrival (in my case 9 months) the Swiss driving licence is valid,
e.g. 3 months in some states, while 1 year in others.

Does anyone know the situation for New York State?
