swiss-list: J1 visa-primary residence in CH?

Hi,

For the H1 and J1 visa specialists, here is another request:
I am currently with my wife in Boston on a J1 visa and am planing to
stay for three years. As I applied for the visa in Bern, I was told to
provide a proof of primary residence in Switzerland.
Now, because of tax issues, I would prefer not to keep a residence in
Swizerland.
Does anybody know if I can "check out" from Switzerland without taking
any risk for my visa (which I have to renew every year...)? Or do I
have to keep an address in Switzerland for three years?
