swiss-list: German spell checking

I'm in the process of writing cover letters (Bewerbungsschreiben) for jobs in
Switzerland in German. I'd like to use a German spell checker, since I want to
make sure I have no typos in my letters. My MS Word has only English, French and
Spanish as default options. I could purchase the German dictionary (MS Proofing
tools).

Are there alternatives?
- is there an online spell checker?
- are there free dictionaries for Word?
