Don't know about Rechtsschutz, but regarding Haftpflicht: for cars take the
phone-book and call a lot of the car insurance companies. Prices vary greatly,
and if you just arrived here you will find that its expensive and you cannot
get good coverage. This will change in about one to two years, unless you were
involved in a traffic accident or got a ticket.
Haftpflicht (liability): this is often coupled with general renters insurance
or house insurance (i.e. against theft, fire, ...) but you may be able to get
it separatly. Most of the big insurance companies offer this. If you get all
insurance policies from the same company you may get a better deal.
So call lots of them, compare what they offer, and read the fine print.
