Pierre,
As far as I know the crucial question is not your visa status but if you are a
staff member at UC or not. If you are regularly employed by UC you should get
benefits (see http://www.ucop.edu/bencom/) and that also includes health
insurance for you and your familily at a very low rate (details see
http://www.ucop.edu/bencom/hw/ygip/intro.html).
