swiss-list: places to stay in SF?

These days the weather in Seattle follows exactly the Seattle stereotype:
it's raining all day long. So we'd like to spend a nice weekend in San
Francisco (with some sun!). So, could anyone recommend good and
inexpensive hotels to stay for a weekend? It should be sort of close to
the main tourist attractions.
