J1 restriction

Hi all,

I just learned from our Laboratory Program Representative that since
January 1997 you can n o t leave the US for more than 30 consecutive days
on a J1 visa.
If you do you'll have to stay out of the US for one year.

Can anyone confirm this? Do you have more information on this?
