Dear Swiss House Friends,

We are happy to invite you to a lunch seminar on August 22nd at Swiss House
(www.creativeswitzerland.com) on the topic "Legal Issues in E-commerce: US
and EU perspectives".

Most of the once high-flying dot-coms might have disappeared, but doing
business over the internet remains a critical element of every company. This
practice-oriented session will give an overview of the legal pitfalls you
need to know when using the Internet to do business in the US and in Europe.
Entrepreneurs, foreign lawyers, and LLMs are particularly encouraged to
attend to hear the latest developments on these issues and listen to three
experts in the field!

The presentations will cover the following issues:
- Data protection and privacy
- Liability for illegal content and hyperlinking
- On-line contracting
- Jurisdiction

There will be three panelists for this session:

On the US side: Andrew Breines and David Arnheim, both attorneys with the
law firm Aresty International (www.cyberspaceattorney.com)
On the Swiss/EU side (via videoconference): Michel Jaccard, who works with
the law firm Tavernier Tschanz in Geneva and teaches IT and IP law at two
Swiss universities http://www.ttv.ch/jaccard3.htm
The program is the following:

12:00PM Registration and Welcome
12:15PM Program starts with US speakers
12:45PM Presentation from Switzerland via Videoconference
Followed by Q&A and networking

NOTE: Please bring your own lunch. We will have chips and drinks for you!

Attendance is free, but limited to 50 persons!
RSVP is required by August 19 at Pascal Marmier at
