I am very confused about this. I don't have experience myself, but I
am about to get a GC and researched the issue. The infos I got do not
line up with what you guys say.....

This seems to depend on the type of greencard (according to info I
found on the internet). Could be more than a year or less....

I thought that you file as non-resident and there you show that you
were out of the country more than 183 days. What am I missing?
