Chef Paul's Restaurant
edit
Chef Paul's Restaurant is a pearl worth the trip to the Piedmont
district of
Oakland. Advertised mainly by word-of-mouth, it is known to insiders as one
of the best traditional French-style restaurants in the Bay area.
Award-winning Chef Paul Gruetter's seafood and meat dishes and
his home-made
desserts are a delight. Be sure to be hungry and start with the heavenly
saffron lobster bisque.

Emile's Restaurant
edit
The owner and Chef Emile Mooser is from Gruyères and came here over 40 years ago.
He is a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs. Might be one of the 3 best restaurants in the Bay
Area with Chez Panisse in Berkeley and La Follie in S.F. It is less expensive than these
restaurants, but it is a gourmet restaruant and not cheap: plan to spend $32 for the special,
$50 for the table gastronomique. Food is haute cuisine, serves also Swiss wines he imports
himself. Please visit his Web site for more information at www.emiles.com

Germania
edit
A very good German/Swiss restaurant located on Test: North First Street and Julian in downtown San Jose (their website describes how to get there). I can highly recommend the 'Schweinshaxen' (seasonal specialty though). Their 'Zuerich Gschnetzlets' (Swiss specialty) is also very good.

La Fondue - Saratoga
edit
Everything from a good, traditional fondue to the wildest combinations – both cheese and meet as well as desert fondues. High quality food in “family style” sizes. Very nice and opulent decoration mixing ancient Roman, Chinese, and modern elements. Always reserve, as it is very popular.
